Contact Dermatitis

What It Is

Contact dermatitis is a skin rash that is likely caused by your skin reacting to an allergen or irritant. The rash can be red, itchy, and uncomfortable. Cosmetics or makeup products, fragrances, soaps, jewelry, and plants are often the cause of contact dermatitis.

How DSCCA Can Help

While contact dermatitis is more bothersome than threatening, it is best practice to have a dermatologist evaluate any uncomfortable and visible rash to properly determine the most effective treatment. In most cases a prescription ointment or cream will be sufficient. However, if severe, a prescription oral medication may be needed.
