Dermatologic Surgery & Procedures

Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center of Augusta offers dermatologic surgery and procedures as a treatment for skin cancer and pre-cancers.

After a lesion has been biopsied and declared cancerous, dermatologic surgery is performed to remove the cancer. An excision is one form of surgery in which a scalpel is used to remove cancerous tissue and a small amount of healthy tissue surrounding the area. Local anesthetic is used to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

What We Treat

  • Cancerous Growth

Cancerous growths, such as basal cell cancer, squamous cell cancer and melanoma, may be treated by surgical excision, Mohs surgery, or electrodessication.

  • Warts and Lesions

Warts and precancerous lesions are typically treated by electrosurgical destruction, freezing with liquid nitrogen or chemical acid peeling of the skin.

  • Cysts and Moles

Cysts and moles are removed surgically, sometimes requiring suture repair of the wound.
